Welcome to our Brewood CE (C) Middle School website. I hope you find this a useful insight into our school and that it provides all the information you may need.
Our mission is to educate our pupils within a safe, happy, caring Christian environment, where all are valued and encouraged to fulfil their potential in all aspects of school life. Our school motto is 'Be the Best you can Be' and this exemplifies what we expect of pupils and adults alike at Brewood.
In the National Society's publication, 'Valuing All God's Children' it states that
'The core purpose of any Church school is to maximise the learning potential of every pupil within the love of God.
Church of England Schools have at their heart a belief that all children are loved by God, are individually unique and that the school has a mission to help each pupil to fulfil their potential in all aspects of their personhood: physically, academically, socially, morally and spiritually'. At Brewood CE Middle School, we want all pupils to engage in learning in a safe and welcoming ethos.
British Values are embedded in the life of our school. They are actively promoted through spiritual, moral, social and cultural education and form a part of our distinctive Christian character. Please see our full British Values statement below.
The governors and staff have high expectations of our pupils, regardless of their ability, and are committed to providing a high quality education for all. Our strong pastoral care system helps us to develop pupils as confident individuals who have self-discipline, respect for others and a caring attitude towards the community in which they live.
Pupils are given opportunities to develop leadership and life skills and are strongly encouraged to take part in extra curricular activities which develop their full potential.
New Academic Year 2017-18
There are a number of changes already in place for the start of the new academic year. Mr Cartwright has been appointed as our Leader of LIFE and he will co-ordinate a number of PSHEE initiatives which will improve life skills of pupils at Brewood.
Over the summer we had our new outdoor gym fitted near the Key Stage 3 playground. This will be used at various times during PE to support our physical fitness activities. We also established a 'Ready to Learn Room' to support pupils with pastoral and emotional issues.
In November, one of our science laboratories is being refurbished; this is being funded partly by school and partly from a Local Authority grant. Science is a important curriculum aspect at Brewood and this will provide us with more modern facilities and improve the quality of learning for pupils.
We are also in the second year of our Primary Structure which focuses on pupils in Years 5 and 6 developing and applying basic skills of reading, writing and mathematics. The initial outcomes of this are very encouraging and have led to improved SATs results at the end of Year 6, and we believe pupils are the better prepared now for years 7 and 8.
We are also looking forward to joining the St Chad's Multi-Academy Trust later this term which will open up a number of new opportunities for the school and pupils.
Please collect a copy of our new school prospectus which is available in our reception area. Alternatively, this will soon be available to download from our website. If you would like further information about the school please do not hesitate to contact us or make an appointment to visit us.
