Pastoral Care

At Brewood we pride ourselves on the care and support we provide for all pupils in the academy and the happiness and well-being of our pupils is paramount.

We strive to create an environment, which supports and nurtures pupils to achieve their full potential academically, physically, emotionally and spiritually.  We encourage our families to contact their child’s form teacher, in the first instance, if they have any concerns about their child.

Our pastoral team (Every Child Matters Team) is made up of our Head Teacher, Inclusion Lead, Attendance Champion, Pastoral Officer and Mental Health Lead.

Each Year group also has a team of pupils who make up the student council, who provide a voice and opinion in school affairs. We also have a dedicated team of Year 8 prefects led by the Senior Prefect Team.

All pupils are a member of a House – Weston, Somerford, Stretton or Chillington. This system provides opportunities to take responsibility, work in teams and take part in competitive events.

Staff hope that parents and pupils will feel free to talk about any concerns or worries which may affect educational progress. The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

At Brewood CE Middle Academy, we pride ourselves on being an inclusive school, which celebrates, supports and respects the talents and potential of every pupil. Here we are all journeying together in order to learn through faith, grow through hope and achieve through love, allowing all to live life to the full, everything we do we do in love.

We believe that the progress of every individual learner is of equal importance. Most importantly, ‘every teacher at Brewood is a teacher of every child’, including those with Special Educational Needs. We are actively involved in continual professional development with the aim of ensuring that all staff deliver quality first teaching based on research relating to the needs of individual pupils

Form teachers play a very important role in this process and are the first ‘port of call’ for pupils and their parents if a problem arises. Parents can contact form tutors using their child’s Classcharts account.  We asl please that all communication is made in a respectful manner.

Mental Health Support

Our Every Child Matters Team meet regularly to discuss and offer support where it is required, this may be through signposting to third party organisations.  Every Tuesday we welcome Bonnie, our Therapy Dog, who meets with small groups of pupils to read or play games.

Pupils are happy at Brewood Middle CofE Academy and many describe it as being like a ‘family’
